Mailbox themed kindness card ~ Letters For Henry

There is a beautiful story of a postal worker named Henry.  So to spread kindness honoring him, I am sharing a postage themed mailbox card.
It was suggested that when you send someone you love a card, share it with the hashtag #lettersforhenry online so that the family can see posts in his memory.

Sentiment:  Kindness changes everything.

For this card, I decided to create my own background with repeat stamping of one of the postage stamps.  Then, I added the mailbox and the sentiment.  Copic markers were used for color.  I love the nostalgic look of the mailbox.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Here is another look.

For more about Henry's story by another crafter, see the very end of the post HERE dated 2-10-18.
It was the story of Henry Groeneveld, a mail carrier for the US Postal service, who vanished before Christmas last year. Sadly, last month they found his body. He seemed like such a kind, sweet man - and his daughter said since he was 8 years old, he wanted to be a mailman and that he loved his job. As a kid, he'd make his parents stop at every post office in every town they traveled through. He was someone who had found his calling, and that's so rare and such a treasure. And the fact that his calling is something I love dearly just connected me to the story in a very personal way. I had really hoped for a different ending.
There's a discussion group for the podcast, and his story more than all the others really touched people and generated a lot of conversation. His daughter is in the group and she asked me if I'd share a request with you. Since Henry's passion lines up so much with mine - I couldn't help but ask you if you could do something kind for his family the next time you go to send a card to someone. She would love to see the photos on the hashtag below - Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

It would honor my dad if you mailed a letter to somebody
you love. It would be beautiful to see a picture of your
letters posted with the hashtag #lettersforhenry

Funny farm animals set of cards with colored pencil.

Today I am sharing a set of coordinating cards with a farm animal theme.

Sentiments:
Hello.
Hello from the funny farm.
Hope your birthday is unforgettable.

These are simple and fun to make.  The animals and the sentiment were stamped and added to the panels in slightly different ways.  White colored pencil was used to lighten some of the areas to make the animals pop more against the kraft color paper.

I chose to use different sentiments for each.  Trim was used from leftover pieces.  The edges were lightly shaded with distress oxide ink.  I kept them monochromatic for a natural look.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Watercolor stars birthday card + ombre stamping

For Watercolor Wednesday, I made a fun birthday card with watercolor stars as well as ombre stamping.

Sentiment:  Happy birthday.

This was fun to do.  I first stamped the happy birthday sentiment in two colors.  I added darker ink over part of the light stamping to get a blended ink look.  Then, I made a panel with only watercolor.  Stars were die-cut from the watercolor panel.  Punches can also be used in different shapes to get a similar look.  Everything was layered to finish.

The full article and tutorial are up on the Unity blog.
I also made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Thinking of you bird card ~ MCT Made In Minutes

Today, the My Creative Time team is sharing projects which were made in minutes.

Sentiment:  Thinking of you today and always.

For this card, I incorporated patterned paper for the background and solid blue paper for the topper.  The bird and the sentiment were stamped at the same time using the mini misti stamping tool.  The bird was simply colored with Copics.  The pieces were die-cut together when they would fit on the die-cut plate.  With a little twine and adhesive pearls, it was finished in less than thirty minutes.

Here is another look.

Hop time ~ MCT 92nd edition release, sale and blog hop

Hi, it's Gaylynn here.  The My Creative Time 92nd Edition release, sale and blog hop has begun.
You may have arrived from Emily's blog.

Sentiment:  Welcome to the world little one!

This card was made from the bottle favor die.  I wanted to make a card with it, so after die-cutting, I trimmed the folds off.  This left a fun bottle shape, perfect for a baby card addition.  I made a heart accent from the negative heart area of a previous card.  I try to use up extra scrap pieces when I can.
Hearts and babies go together perfectly.

Gold shimmer watercolor + variegated floral stamping

Today for Watercolor Wednesday, I am using gold watercolor for shimmer and also variegated stamping.

Sentiment:  You've made my day.

This card was made in two steps.  I first stamped the florals onto regular cardstock.  Solid stamps were used for this technique.  Variegated stamping was added in a lighter shade and then accenting in a darker shade.  The background panel was painted in gold watercolor with a shimmer look.  Everything was layered to finish.

The full article and tutorial are up on the Unity blog.

Wedding car ~ Day 3 MCT 92nd Edition Sneak Peeks

Hello.  The MCT team is sharing Day 3 sneak peeks of the 92nd Edition release.

Sentiment:
Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness.  Congratulations.

For this card I die-cut the car, the lace border and the sentiment.  I decided to make a silver glitter lace topper to include the sentiment.  And for the bride and groom's car, I used light gray, white and black paper pieces.  With a little foam tape, the car pops up.  This is easy to do with the amazing die-cuts in this release.

Sakura Koi watercolor floral card detail with gold embossing.

For Watercolor Wednesday, I share a way to add watercolor detail to flowers along with gold embossing.

Sentiment:  Hello my dear friend.

For this card, I first die-cut a rectangle background.  I then die-cut a curved detail over the rectangle to get a separated look to the card.  Watercolor paper was used to stamp and watercolor the flowers and the leaves.  This tutorial will show how to create watercolor detail along with gold embossing.

The full article and tutorial are up on the Unity blog.
I also made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.
