MFT 2021 Card Design Superstar Challenge ~ Innovative Master

Hello.  Gaylynn here.  Today's card was made exclusively for the My Favorite Things 2021 Card Design Superstar Challenge in the category of Innovative Master.

Sentiment:
I will always be here for you.

This sweet slimline card was made using the wonderful slimline die-namics, including the Slide In coordinating dies.  This allows for a fun slider tag card with a pull tab.  It makes a great tag element, slimline style.  For this card, I used the sweet elephants on the front and on the inside.  For the front, I used Copic markers in soft colors.  And for the background gray panel, I heat embossed an elephant, balloon and butterflies in white.  For a hint of color, I added touches of color pencils in blue and gray shades for the inside.  These two panels were placed over the slimline card base.
This white card base was cut at 8 1/2" x 7" and scored at 3 1/2".

Here is another look when the slider panel was pulled upward.

Purple aster flowers card + Copic markers & pretty layers

Today, I am sharing a purple layered card featuring beautiful aster flowers for sending love.  This works for get well, support, thinking of you or many occasions to show you care.

Sentiment:  Sending love.

I took some time adding color to each amazing aster flower.  A mix of colors were used to get the look.  The stamp is large and includes all three flowers in one Unity stamp.  Background panels were layered to frame the pretty bouquet of purple asters.  To top off the card, I added a sentiment panel over the flowers and a layered flag embellishment at the top.

Helpful tips:

To create this, begin by stamping the large aster bouquet and the sentiment with Copic friendly ink onto white cardstock.  For background panels, trim or die-cut them.  Also, trim or die-cut a card base in dark purple and a layer for the light purple background panel.  Next, make little flags by trimming pieces of the same cardstock colors.  Then, begin adding color to the flowers.  I used Copic markers, but any medium will work with ink for use with your color medium.  Finally, layer it all and embellish, to finish.

 Supplies:

Unity Stamp Co. September Aster.
Also, flat and foam double-sided tape, adhesive pearls, My Favorite Things grapesicle and grape jelly card stock, My Creative Time Rectangle Frame Die Layers and Rectangle Frame Dies; Copic markers V04, V06, V01, V0000, BV0000, Y13, YR23, Y21, YG95, YG03.

Mermaid Summer Shaker Card Tutorial ~ MFT Camp Create 2021 Day 1

Hello.  Gaylynn here.  For today, the theme is shaker projects.  Here is my Summer themed mermaid shaker card.

Sentiment:
Sending you oceans of love.

This card was made in a clean and simple style or CAS.  I wanted the mermaid to be the focus over the circle shaker element on the card.  I love the tropical icons in the stamps and dies.  I chose blue and clear sparkle sequins inside of the shaker to mimic the ocean.

Here is another look.

Teapots slimline card ~ Soften the edges tutorial

Today, I am sharing a sweet tea themed slimline card.  It features teapots all in a row.  I share a technique to soften the edges using ink blending.

Sentiment:
Let's catch up over a cuppa tea.

Helpful tips:

To create this card, first cut and score a card base.  Next, die-cut or trim slimline or tall card layers in different colors of card stock.  Then, stamp and trim the teapot panel with Copic friendly ink.  For color, add Copics in layers or your markers of choice.  To soften the edges, add a bit of ink blending in white pigment ink around the edges of each color cardstock layer.  Use a disposable foam blending applicator if using pigment ink.  This adds a softer look to the finished card.  Finally, layer everything with flat and foam double-sided tape, to finish.

Note:  Slimline dies vary by brand in size.  For this card, I trimmed the card base a bit larger than the largest card layer.
For this card base:  cut at 7 1/2" x 7 1/2", score at 3 3/4".

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Watercolor sailboat scene ~ Prima water soluble oil pastels & stamping

Today, I am sharing oil pastel watercolor with sailboat stamping.  This is a large peaceful stamp that works perfectly with the watercolor.

Sentiment:
Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for making this card.  First, trim and score the card base and the layers.  Next, stamp the sailboat scene onto the smooth side of a watercolor paper panel.  Next, onto a palette, make color swatches from the oil pastel crayons.  Then, brush clear water over a section of the stamping.  Also, using a wet brush, mix a pastel color to liquefy it and then apply color in sections.  Repeat for all of the sections.  Apply multiple coats to some areas if preferred, drying between sections and layers.  Once dry, assemble the card, to finish.

Pop-up and wobble 2 interactive cards ~ 2 ways

For today, I am sharing interactive cards, two ways.  This set features a laptop computer as a pop-up card and another as a wobble card.

Sentiments:

Virtual Hugs
Happy Father's Day

Interactive cards are always well received and unexpected.  They are fun to make and to receive.

Helpful tips:
Here are helpful tips for making these two interactive cards.  First, trim accent pieces of patterned paper for the card fronts.  Also, trim a full card length tan insert and another card insert from white cardstock.  I used black card bases to coordinate with the paper used.  Next, stamp and color two laptops.  Then fussy cut them. (cut out)  Layer the virtual hugs laptop and paper over the card front using an Action Wobble spring.  For the Father's Day laptop, make a pop-out cut into the long liner insert.  I used a die-cut over the score line.  (see the video)  Next, adhere the long liner inside of the card base.  Then, adhere the second laptop to the bottom fold of the pop-out cut.  Finally, layer paper and ribbon on the second card front, to finish.

Here is another look:

Supplies:  Unity Stamp Co. Virtual Hugs and Farmhouse Plaid {paper pack}.
Also, My Creative Time stitched pop-up dies, double-sided paper, cardstock, ribbon, action wobble, scissors, Copic markers C1, C3, 0, W5, W3, 100; scoring board, paper trimmer.
