Cheers owls celebration card ~ masking, blending & Copics

Today, I am sharing a clean and simple card featuring adorable owls.  This card is easy to make.  I used stamping, masking, ink blending and a bit of Copic coloring.

Sentiment:  Cheers!

Helpful tips:

To create this, begin by stamping the owls onto smooth white cardstock.  Then, die-cut or trim the stamped panel and a frame layer in green.  Next, using masking tape or Post-It tape, create a mask above and below the ows.  Then, add ink blending on the edge of the mask bottom in green and above the mask in yellow.  I used ink pads for ink blending but distress ink works also.  Next, add color to the owls.  Finally, layer everything with added pearl gems, to finish.

Gold watercolor background celebration gnome card ~ tutorial

Hello.  For Technique Time at Unity, I share ways to make a gold watercolor background and a festive celebration look to this gnome card.

Sentiment:  Party like it's gnome body's business.

For this card, I made gold watercolor background accents and a touch of watercolor on the front panel.  This creates nice shimmer card accents.  It is perfect for Happy New Year, birthday cards and more.

Helpful tips:
Here are helpful tips for creating this gold watercolor background gnome card.  To begin, stamp and trim a card front panel.  Also, color in the gnome stamping.  Next, trim a black or dark background cardstock panel to fit the card base.  Then, mix gold shimmer watercolor with water and also mix a silver or white watercolor.  Next, using a wide paint brush, brush gold watercolor in stripes along the long edge of the background panel.  Then, add gold watercolor to the gnome's hat using a narrow paint brush.  Also, add a mask over the gnome & the glass and then splatter gold watercolor over the gnome panel.  Then, splatter the background panel with gold splatter and then splatter white or silver watercolor over the gnome's hat.  Finally, assemble the card, to finish.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Night sky background stars celebration card with accents ~ tutorial

Hello.  For Technique Time at Unity, I am showing a way to make a festive and fun night sky background for a celebration card.  Extra accents were added to make the scene.

Sentiment:  Cheers.  It is the beginning of anything you want.

Making a night sky background scene is easy with stamps, ink and embossing.  Plus, fun celebration details and stamps make it extra festive.

Helpful tips:
Here are helpful tips for creating this night sky background card.  To begin, die-cut or paper trim all of the background and accent layers and panels.  Next, stamp the girl and the sentiment.  Then, add color to the girl with Copic markers or others.  Also, make a strand of lights and add glitter glue to make them sparkle.  Next, fussy cut (cut out) the girl.  Then, onto the oval white cardstock panel, stamp the stars with embossing ink and then heat emboss the stars in white.  Next, blend distress ink in two blue colors, dark enough for a night sky.  Then, with a dry paper towel, wipe the inked panel lightly to make the stars appear brighter.  Finally, assemble the scene building card layers, to finish.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Nutcracker card with Prismacolor colored pencils ~ tutorial.

Hello.  It is early holiday card making for me.  Here is my nutcracker card using Prismacolor pencils and hardware embellishment.

Sentiment:  Wishing you a magical Christmas & a crackin' New Year!

For this nutcracker, I was going for a rustic wood grain look using color pencils.  But for a smoother look and brighter color, brush on gamsol fluid after coloring.

Here are tips for making this card.  First, stamp the nutcracker and the sentiment onto kraft color cardstock.  Then trim or die-cut frames and background accent details.  Next, color in the nutcracker using colored pencils or other color mediums.  Adding gamsol fluid to the pencil coloring is another step that is optional when using color pencils.  Then, to accent further, add a sentiment frame.  I used hardware for the frame.  However, if using hardware in card making, I recommend hand delivering the card or packaging it safely for mailing.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

The most wonderful time of the year gold foil card.

It is almost that time of the year for sparkle and shine.
Today, I am sharing a holiday or New Year's card in gold foil with stamping.

Sentiment:  It's the most wonderful time of the year.

This was made using one of the brand new background stamps designed by Christopher Alan the owner of Brutus Monroe.  His awesome stamp designs were made into red rubber stamps manufactured by Unity Stamp Co.  And so, us design team members along with fabulous customers get to create lovely things using  those new deeply etched red rubber stamps.  How cool is that?

This card was made from stamped gold foil and then shaped with lots of die-cuts.  There are many ways to add sparkle and shine by foiling.  For my sample, I used adhesive-backed foil sheets by Silhouette.  I tried stamping directly onto the foil using StazOn ink, and it worked out perfectly.  I find that I like the thickness that the adhesive backing provides, so I kept that layer on the big panel and just added foam tape behind the backing layer.  The sentiment panel was adhered by peeling the backing off and then adding a frame paper layer.  There are so many possibilities.

Here is a quick video tutorial for this gold foil trees card.

Here is another look.

I can see this background used in many different ways.

Supplies:  Unity Stamp Co. Freshly Cut by Brutus Monroe and Most Wonderful Time by Joslyn Nielson and Angie Blom;  Silhouette gold foil adhesive-backed sheets, My Creative Time dies, foam tape and StazOn ink.

Have a wonderful day.
