Tag Card Making With A Home Theme

Today, I share tag card making with a home theme.  This is great for a house warming or any time.

Sentiment:
Have a beautiful day.  Home sweet home.

Copic markers were used for color, but any coloring medium works.  I love the whimsical look of this stamp by Unity Stamp Company.

 Hello.  Sometimes you need cards for those who live far away.  This home stamp is perfect for that and also for house warming occasions, just by switching up the sentiments.

Sentiment:

I may not be with you, but I am always here for you.

For this simple card, I added flat layers and heart accents.

New Home ~ Watercolor Frame Card

 Hello and welcome.  Today, I am sharing a watercolor frame style card with a new home theme.  This stamp is one large background for a perfect background.

Sentiment:
New home.  New beginning.  New memories.

This is a perfect card to give someone for a house warming.  The watercolor background and the sentiment work great together, with or without a frame on the front.

Wishing happiness houses card ~ MFT Sketch Challenge 574

 Hello.  Gaylynn here.  Today's card was inspired by the My Favorite Things sketch challenge 574.

Sentiment:

Wishing you every happiness.

This is a nice card for new neighbors, a house warming, new home, moving, going away and more.  I used a mix of dies and a stamp for my interpretation of the sketch.  A neighborhood scene was what I was going for.  Little trees were made from patterned paper and the houses were paired over a grassy area.  The sky was stenciled with clouds.  

New home houses slimline card ~ MFT Camp Create 2021 Day 4

 Hello.  Gaylynn here.  Today is Day 4 of the MFT Camp Create 2021 and I am participating in the camp projects.  For today, the theme background bonanza.  This was easy to do but it was a little time consuming cutting and placing all of the tiny houses.  The best part is that this card requires no coloring.  I love how it turned out.

Sentiment:
Congratulations on your new home.

Here are tips for making this card.  To begin, die-cut the slimline card base and all of the slimline layers.  Next, using different color cardstock and patterned paper, die-cut little houses and trees.  Then, stamp and trim the sentiment.  Next, layer the green grass slopes over the blue background layer, staggering them.  Finally, to finish, adhere with glue all assorted tiny houses along the slopes.

Neighborhood background card scene with slopes tutorial.

 For today, I am sharing a layered neighborhood background card scene.  It includes dimension with slopes, cut out detail and ink blending.

Sentiment:  You are simply wonderful.

This is a great card to give for house warming, miss you, thank you, thinking of you or just because.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for creating this neighborhood card.  I recommend viewing the video for the details.  But, start by stamping the neighborhood background onto cardstock then trim or die-cut it out.  Then, add distress ink blending around the edges.  Next, fussy cut (cut out) a section of the houses to use between the slopes.  Then, die-cut or trim two slope accents.  Also, finish ink blending the houses.  Finally, arrange the scene in layers and adhere the pieces to the card front, to finish.

Winter home snow scene watercolor card tutorial.

 Hi there.  For Technique Time at Unity, I am showing one way to create a winter home snow scene with added watercolor, paint splatters and snow drifts.

Creating a snow scene is easy with snow drift trim and watercolor accents.  Layering up a few different elements adds interest and dimension.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for creating this winter home snow scene card in watercolor.   To begin, add white paint splatters onto a blue cardstock panel.  Next, die-cut or trim snow drift pieces to overlap and fit onto the card front.  Also, stamp or die-cut a sentiment for the card.  Then, stamp the home with waterproof ink onto watercolor paper.  Next, add watercolor of choice to the house.  I used Zig clean color real brush pens in dark hues.  Then, once dry, fussy cut (cut out) the house.  Finally, layer it all and adhere it to the card front, to finish.

Toner Foiling ~ How to use leftovers for negative foiling ~ 2 cards

 Hello.  For Technique Time at Unity, I show a way to use leftover foil pieces in this negative foiling technique.  For today's example, I am using Deco Foil toner card fronts which include toner images.  And then, I added foil using a laminator.

Sentiment:  From our gnome to yours.

With this negative foiling background technique, you get two foiled cards with one piece of deco foil.  And if you also use blank toner sheets, more colors can be added to the same toner card front.  In these cards, I added cute gnome stamping.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for negative foiling.  To begin, use a toner card front or an otherwise prepared panel for foiling.  Also, preheat a laminator and have a carrier sheet (parchment paper) ready.  Then, pre-trim foil pieces to cover the foil area.  Next, sandwich the foil piece over the toner card front inside of the carrier sheet.  Then, run this through the preheated hot laminator.  Next, gently peel away the first foil sheet to reveal the shiny foiled image.  You will have a sheet of leftover foil, I call the negative.  

For the negative foiling steps, trim a blank deco foil toner sheet panel to match your foil area.  Next, sandwich the negative foil over the toner sheet.  Then, run that through a hot pre-heated laminator.  Next, carefully peel away the "clear" film top layer where the foil used to be.  You will see that the foiling was transferred to the toner sheet.  This is ready to trim to fit your project.  OR, you can go one step further and add another foil color over that same foil sheet, run through a laminator to get a two-toned foiling result.

One layer cottage house card & video ~ Prima watercolor art tubes

Hi there.  This is a sweet home themed miss you card and tutorial, made with stamping and watercolors.  It is a one layer card.

Sentiment:  If I could, I would go visit you right now.

Here are helpful tips for creating this.  First, die-cut or trim a stamped panel from watercolor paper.  Also, if using watercolor, stamp with waterproof ink.  Next, mix watercolor palette colors with water to prepare for painting.  Then, with narrow paint brushes, add watercolor one section at a time and heat set between colors and sections.  Using more water on your brush will make the color lighter and using less water will make the color darker.  Alternate to get the shades that you want.  Finally, add double-sided adhesive to affix the panel to the card base, to finish.

Family love chair card ~ clean and simple with Copics

Today, I am sharing another card using the fun home and family stamps in the May 2020 Unity kit of the month.  I love the chair and pillows included with the family sentiments.

Sentiment:  Family.  I love our family and I love you.

This card was made using teal and gray colors.  I used the comfy chair and throw pillows.  Plus, I added one of the sentiments to a pillow by cutting the stamp and then stamping shorter word sections.  The family sentiment flag was hand-trimmed.  For color, Copics were used in layers for a soft look.  And the background is a piece of dry embossing, leftover from another project.  Finally, I fussy cut the pieces and layered it all to finish.

I kept this card clean and simple CAS style.  This could easily be made for other occasions like house warming or birthday just by changing out the sentiments.

Canvas Art ~ How to add stamped art to a painted canvas

Hello.  For Technique Time at Unity, I am sharing canvas art.  This is a way of adding a stamped watercolor cardstock panel to a painted mixed media canvas.

Adding papercraft art to a canvas is a great way to preserve your artwork.  It is similar to card making, but instead in a mixed-media format.

Here are helpful canvas art tips for how to add stamped art to a painted canvas.  First, prime and then paint a canvas.  Then, allow it to dry after priming and also after painting.  Next, stamp then watercolor the wagon panel and the flowers, using watercolor paper and waterproof ink.  Then, dry completely.  Next cut out the flowers and trim the wagon panel.  Optional, add sparkle to the flowers.  Next, in a well-ventilated area, add spray fixatif to the front and the back sides of the stamped and colored art panel and to the flowers.  Onto the canvas, hand stamp background accents and then dry.  Then, apply a matte gel medium to the canvas and to the back side of the wagon panel.  Next, with dry hands, gently press the cardstock panel over the canvas.  Then, apply a top coat of matte gel medium over the canvas and the artwork.  Finally, allow the canvas to dry completely.  Optional, adhere a dry accent frame and then glue the flowers to accent.

Lace background watercolor butterfly card with stamping.

For Watercolor Wednesday, I am sharing a card with both stamping and a watercolor background in a mixed media style.

Sentiment:  Home is wherever you are.  Happy Easter.

This was stamped in layers and watercolor was added in between.  I wanted a mixed media look to this card.   I combined the sentiments for use as an Springtime Easter card.

Background Watercolor Card with Stamping

Begin by stamping the sentiment onto regular cardstock.  Then stamp the background lace onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink.
I inked the lace around the background perimeter.  Then I placed the watercolor paper on top of the stamp to pick up ink from the lace stamp.

Heat set or allow the background to dry.

I added water to the panel.  Then I added one color of Altenew watercolor.  I used several layers of that color and then heat set.

Once dry, I stamped the butterfly, using two ink colors and the Mini Misti tool.

Ranger archival ink pads used:  Sienna, Monarch Orange and Pale Ochre.
I layered everything onto the card base and embellished to finish.

Watercolor Card Using Ink Spray Bottles + Gold Embossing

For today's Watercolor Wednesday, I am sharing a floral watercolor card using ink spray bottles along with gold heat embossing.

Sentiment:  Congratulations on your new home.

This is a housewarming card in florals and watercolor.  I decided to use ink from premixed spray bottles for color.  Instead of actually spraying the ink, I used drops of the ink as a color palette.

To begin, add powder to the image panel prior to embossing, to prevent stray embossing powder.
Stamp onto watercolor paper with watermark ink like VersaMark.  Heat emboss with gold embossing powder.
For watercolor, I used two colors of Dylusions ink spray bottles.  Instead of spraying, I poured drops of each color onto a craft mat.
I misted water over the stamped panel.  Then, I added color one at a time using a brush, allowing the colors to blend where they meet.
Blot with a paper towel and then heat set.
An option is to stamp the envelope with ink using the same stamp.
Finally, assemble the card and embellishments.
