 Hey there.  Thanks for stopping by.  Today I am sharing a way to stamp in color and use colored pencils on kraft cardstock, for Unity Stamp Co.  This provides a subtle look by combining the two techniques.

Stamping different ink colors with a touch of colored pencils works beautifully on kraft.

Monochromatic colored pencils cat card.

 Hi there!  Here is an easy and cute cat card using monochromatic colored pencils on kraft cardstock.  This is also up on the Unity Stamp Co. blog today.  For this project, I chose the tones of tan, gold, gray and white.

Sentiment:
If cats could send a card... they wouldn't.

The stamp combination makes me laugh.  I think the sentiment is the best part of this card.  haha

Set of 3" x 3" mini note cards with envelopes ~ Snails

 Hello.  I am showing how to make a set of 3" x 3" mini note cards with envelopes.  These four were made cute using snail stamping and colored pencils.

Sorry, I'm a little late.
Keep on moving.
Thanks slow much.

 These can be used as mini note cards or gift tags.  I made a little gift set with cards and envelopes tied together with tulle.

Juniper fun fold card with colored pencils.

 Hi crafty friends.  Today for the Unity blog, I am sharing a juniper fun fold card with colored pencils.  It includes a flip up element for writing your inside greeting.  The style can be used with almost any stamp or theme.

Sentiment:
His mercies are new every morning; Great is His faithfulness.  "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, therefore I hope in Him!"  Lamentations 3:23:24

For color, I used colored pencils along with ink blending to accent the juniper stamping.  I also incorporated an inspirational spiritual theme.

Daisies ~ Colored Pencils on Colored Cardstock Technique

Interactive wobble pun card + background stamping techniques

  Hello.  Interactive wobble card making adds a surprise element for the recipient.  Today, on the Unity blog, I am sharing this super fun technique which is always well received.

Here, I made a cute interactive wobble pun card with a washing machine element along with a coordinating stamped background.

Colored pencils on black cardstock + slimline tulip stamping & stencil

 Tulip stamping and stenciling work great together.  Today, on the Unity blog, I am sharing one way to accent tulips with colored pencils on black cardstock.  Most smooth dark cardstock provides a similar look.

For this card, I used colored pencils on black cardstock with tulip stamping, white heat embossing and stenciling.  This creates a vibrant look on dark cardstock.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips to create using colored pencils on black cardstock.  To begin, trim or die-cut a black slimline cardstock panel to fit over the card base.  Next, cut and score a slimline card base.  Also, add powder to the stamping panel.  Then, stamp and heat emboss the slimline tulips in white.  Next, choose colored pencils in red, green and white or different colors of the same color family.  Using a white color pencil, lightly color the flowers and the leaves.  Then, using the tulip stencil and direct coloring, add red at the base of the petals and green shades on the bottom of the leaves.  Also, leave white space at the tops of the petals and leaves.  And, blend the colors together with the white pencil.  (Optional, blend the penciling with Gamsol fluid, which I elected not to do for this card.)  Finally, layer and embellish it all, to finish.

For this particular slimline card:

Card base:  cut 9 1/4" x 8", score at 4".

Card size folded & assembled:  9 1/4" x 4".

Envelope:  #10 or 9 1/2" x 4 1/8".

Nutcracker card with Prismacolor colored pencils ~ tutorial.

 Hello.  It is early holiday card making for me.  Here is my nutcracker card using Prismacolor pencils and hardware embellishment.

Sentiment:  Wishing you a magical Christmas & a crackin' New Year!

For this nutcracker, I was going for a rustic wood grain look using color pencils.  But for a smoother look and brighter color, brush on gamsol fluid after coloring.

Here are tips for making this card.  First, stamp the nutcracker and the sentiment onto kraft color cardstock.  Then trim or die-cut frames and background accent details.  Next, color in the nutcracker using colored pencils or other color mediums.  Adding gamsol fluid to the pencil coloring is another step that is optional when using color pencils.  Then, to accent further, add a sentiment frame.  I used hardware for the frame.  However, if using hardware in card making, I recommend hand delivering the card or packaging it safely for mailing.

Daisy flower card with Prismacolor colored pencils ~ tutorial

  Hi there.  For today, I am sharing a way to add daisy color using colored pencils.  This is another fun way to use color with card stamping.

Sentiment:  Hello

Here are tips for making this card.  First, stamp the daisy background onto cardstock.  Next, die-cut or trim into circle layers and also trim the background patterned paper.  Then, stamp the sentiment onto the floral panel, before adding color pencils.  Next, begin adding color to the daisies in wispy layers and colors of choice.   Finally, layer everything onto the card base, to finish.

Mini note card & envelope ~ MCT Made In Minutes

 Hello.  Today, the My Creative Time team is sharing projects which can be made in minutes.  Here is my decorated mini note, tag and envelope set with a pet theme.  This one is great for a dog owner or as a thank you for pet sitting.  This is a bit small for a gift card, but cash also can be tucked inside.

Sentiment:  Just a note.

This was fun and simple to make.  To create this, simply die-cut the envelope onto double-sided cardstock.  Then score, fold and assemble the envelope.  Next, stamp and then die-cut or trim the sentiment and the other elements.  Now, add color to the stamping and layer the pieces.  For closure, tie twine around the closed envelope flap.  Also, tie a mini sentiment tag with the twine, to finish.  This closed envelope measures 3" x 3".

Tip, to open the envelope, slide the twine up and off.  The inside will hold the die-cut mini note panel.

Floral Tag Card ~ MCT Tag It Tuesday

Hello.  Today, the My Creative Time team is sharing tag projects.  Here is my floral all occasion card using a tag as the card accent.

Sentiment:  Hi

This was quick and easy to make.  I first stamped the florals directly onto the card base using two ink shades for the stamping.  Next, I die-cut the tag, bow and letter layers using different colors of cardstock.  I used the smaller parts of the tall frame dies to create the main tag layers, which fit nicely onto the A2 sized card base.  For color, I added colored pencils to the flowers, the bow and to the letters.  Then, I punched a hole into the tag and added twine plus adhesive gems for the flowers.  Finally, everything as layered and assembled, to finish.

Easel card with blue toile stamping tutorial.

Hello.  I am sharing an easel card tutorial with blue toile stamping.  This card brings back some oldies but goodies in my Unity treasure box.

Sentiment:
Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.  Be kind.

Using toile accents really makes this easel card pop.

Helpful tips:

Here are tips for creating this toile easel card:  First, stamp the background toile and the sentiment onto cardstock using a stamp positioner like the Misti.  Next, trim or die-cut all of the cardstock stamped panels and layers.  Now, score the blue frame panel to make a front easel.  Then, begin assembling the top layers and add twine or cording to the tag accent.  Next, fold the blue scored easel panel and adhere the back section to the top fold card base.  Now, add the top accent sentiment section.  When finished, this is an A2 sized card with a front panel that folds out to make an easel card shape.

 

Card base:  A2 top fold. Cut 4 1/4" x 11", score 5 1/2"
Blue frame panel:  cut 4" x 10 1/4" and
score on the long end at 5 1/4" x 7 3/4".
Toile background:  5" x 3 3/4"
(Also, make an accent trim with leftover cuts.)
Front white bottom panel:  2 1/4" x 3 3/4"

Layered Tag:  3 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Colored pencils + simple stamping ~ friendship card tutorial

Hello.  For Technique Time at Unity, I am sharing a card with Prismacolor colored pencils, simple stamping and sweet layers.  Adding touches of colored pencils to simple stamping goes a long way in card making.

Sentiment: Thank you for being my friend.

Here are helpful tips for creating this.  To begin, trim or die-cut a background panel, a stamp panel and also a sentiment panel.  I used assorted colored cardstock.  Next, using a stamp positioner, stamp the bike in black ink and stamp the postage accents in white.  Then, stamp the sentiment strip.  Next, use colored pencils to shade the bike trim and accents.  Finally, adhere all of the layers and add twine to finish.

Keep smiling ~ Prismacolor pencils daisy card with script.

Hi there.  Today, I am sharing a daisy script card using stamping, colored pencil and creative frame accents.

Sentiment:  Keep smiling!  Life is too short.

Here are helpful tips for creating this.  First, die-cut or trim an outer frame and sentiment panel.  Next, onto smooth gray cardstock, stamp the script background, the daisy and the sentiment onto separate gray pieces.  Also, stamp the whispy frame over part of the background script.  Then, carefully hand trim (fussy cut) around the whispy frame.  Next, add color to the daisy with colored pencils and then fussy cut the daisy.  Finally, adhere all of the layers and adhesive gems, to finish.

Watermark background card with white accents + tutorial

Hello.  For Technique Time at Unity, I am sharing a watermark background card with added accents in white and gray.

Sentiment: Just roll with it.

Adding a watermark background is one way to add soft stamping detail to a card.  It can easily be made to coordinate with the main card focus.

Here are helpful tips for creating a watermark background for a card.  First, trim or die-cut a background panel from colored cardstock.  Then, stamp and trim the sentiment panel.  Next, using the mini Misti stamp positioner and VersaMark ink or watermark ink, stamp the toilet paper rolls and the hearts all around the cardstock panel.  Optional, repeat the stamping to get the best stamp impression.  Next, add white accents to the tp rolls using a colored pencil.  Also, add gray color accents to the roll on the sentiment panel to create a bit of dimension.  I used gray Copic markers, but gray colored pencils would work, also.  Finally, layer the card, add the sentiment tag and the twine, to finish.

Masculine watercolor card and tutorial ~ Inktense pencils.

Hello.  Here is a masculine card with stamping and watercolor accents.  I used Inktense pencils on this for watercolor.

Sentiment:  You do a great job of being a great guy.

To make this card, pre-cut or trim all of the card layers.  Then stamp onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink.  Next, add light sketches from watercolor pencils along the outlines.  Then with a stiff wet paint brush, gently pull out the color from the outside inward, for each color section.  Dry between sections if you don't want them to run together.  Also, add more color as needed.  Finally, layer all of the pieces, to finish.

Autumn watercolor card with colored pencil shading.

For Watercolor Wednesday, I am sharing an Autumn card using watercolor with colored pencil shading.

Sentiment:  
Faith sees a beautiful blossom in a bulb,
a lovely garden in a seed
and a giant oak in an acorn.

For this card, I added layers of watercolor onto a die-cut watercolor paper layer.  Once dried, I stamped over it.  The acorns were colored with more watercolor and shaded with colored pencil.

Funny farm animals set of cards with colored pencil.

Today I am sharing a set of coordinating cards with a farm animal theme.

Sentiments:
Hello.
Hello from the funny farm.
Hope your birthday is unforgettable.

These are simple and fun to make.  The animals and the sentiment were stamped and added to the panels in slightly different ways.  White colored pencil was used to lighten some of the areas to make the animals pop more against the kraft color paper. 

I chose to use different sentiments for each.  Trim was used from leftover pieces.  The edges were lightly shaded with distress oxide ink.  I kept them monochromatic for a natural look.
