Technique ~ September 2023 Friends Of Unity Blog Hop

Welcome.  Thanks for visiting.  The September 2023 Friends Of Unity blog hop inspiration is "Technique".  My technique is background stenciling.  I hope that you will join in on the fun.  Simply comment on each blog in the hop.  See the end of this post for your next stop.

This is a look at my set of cards for September.

My projects show two ways to add a background frame along with ink blending.

This is a look at the first card with the snowman.

Sentiment:
There's something about Christmas.

For this card, I used a two-piece stencil to isolate the center frame.  I added stamping and then ink blending.  Then, for the snowman coloring, I used Copic markers.  This card is flat for easy holiday mailing using just one stamp.

A closer look at the snowman.

Here is a look at the second card. It has a completely different look but uses the same technique with the negative part of the 2-piece stencil.

Sentiment: A life so beautifully lived. This sympathy card is mostly flat except for the popped up butterflies. The background frame was made using ink blending on the outside of the background. And, the stamping was done on the inside of the window area. Using a square two-piece stencil, I was able to get this frame look. Also, on both of the cards, I used dye ink pads for the ink blending colors.

Now, here is a closer look.

Here is a peek at how these two greeting cards were made:

  1. Beautiful cards, Gaylynn! I love the pretty colors on them both. The snowman card, though, is my fave!! Love it!

  2. I love the colors, we decorate in Blue so I am usually drawn to that very traditional outdoorsy wintery peaceful look. Had to laugh, Frosty with no eyes. What? At first I thought he was a gnome. Beautiful colors and fun technique.

Background stenciling is another great idea I forget to use. The butterfly card is so soft and love that you popped them up as if flying around!
