For today on the Unity Stamp Company blog, I share this watercolor floral spotlight card project for sending support or condolences. This is made using rubber stamping, watercolor pens and masking.
Helpful tips:
In summary, to make this watercolor floral spotlight card, begin by stamping the card front panel onto the smooth side of precut watercolor paper using waterproof ink. Next, place a circle in the center of the watercolor panel with a piece of new masking paper or repositionable adhesive. I used a circle die-cut. Then, select two colors for your watercolor. I used watercolor pens, but use what you have. Next, begin adding clear water to the panel using a watercolor brush, one section at a time. Paint very lightly near the masking. Then, gently dip color from the pen one color at a time over a small area. Allow the water to flow around. Also, repeat on a nearby section in the other color. Sometimes, the colors run into each other but try to alternate and blend out where needed until the panel is mostly covered. Now, blot puddles and remove the masking. Finally, heat set, add the sentiment then adhere it to the card base, to finish.
(Tip, if you use freshly trimmed masking, it is less likely to bleed through the edges like mine did. I tried to reuse my masking and it seeped through a little. But I used it anyway.)
Here is a look at the card a bit closer.

ReplyDeleteHi Dotty. I am sad to learn of her passing. Do I just link up a new cat project using the linky tool there? I would love to join in.
