Foiling after heat embossing tutorial ~ Love You Card.

Hi, it's Gaylynn.  For Technique Time at Unity, I am showing a way to add laminator foiling after heat embossing.  I share a few tips to make adding foil more successful.

Sentiment:  Love you.

Here are helpful tips for foiling after heat embossing, using a laminator.  To begin, preheat your laminator at its highest setting.  Then, pre-cut or trim background and flag layers.  Also, precut the sentiment panel.  Next, stamp with either a juicy VersaMark ink pad, a juicy and sticky dye ink pad or by adding dabs of deco foil transfer gel.  If you stamped with a juicy ink pad, add embossing powder, then heat emboss the sentiment using a heat tool.  Also, once the sentiment is set, cover the prepared sentiment panel with a trimmed piece of foil, pretty side up.  Next, carefully, run them directly or with a carrier sheet through a preheated laminator, pretty side up.  Allow to cool a bit, then remove the foil sheet.  Another tip is to use a thinner paper or cardstock for foiling, the thinner the better.  Finally, assemble the layers to finish.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Happy Birthday Coffee Mug Masculine Card

Hello.  Today, the My Creative Time team is sharing birthday themed projects.  Here is my frappuccino coffee mug birthday card, for the guys or gals.

Sentiment:  Wishing you a happy birthday.

This is great as a birthday card, masculine card or even for use as a gift card holder.  I used distress ink, vellum and patterned paper accents.

To begin, I die-cut the coffee cup pieces.  Then I added distress ink to the top panel of the mug.  I also stamped the sentiment.  I used foam tape to pop up some of the cup elements.  To add interest, I trimmed dark wood patterned paper for the background.  Finally, to finish, I layered it all.

Here is another look.

Big watercolor flower poppy card ~ Altenew half pans.

Hello.  This is one way of stamping with added watercolor.  I used Altenew half pans for color and acrylic paint for splatters.

Sentiment:  May all your wishes come true.

To make this card, pre-cut or trim all of the card layers.  Then stamp onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink.  Stamp the sentiment onto vellum, then trim.  Next, mix watercolor with water onto a palette in selected hues.  Then, with a watercolor brush, add layers of color by section, repeating as desired.  Heat set between the colors that you don't want to be blended together.  Also, mix a dab of white acrylic paint with water.  Then, using a paint brush, tap paint splatters over the flower layer.  Finally, once dry, layer onto the card base to finish.

Masculine watercolor card and tutorial ~ Inktense pencils.

Hello.  Here is a masculine card with stamping and watercolor accents.  I used Inktense pencils on this for watercolor.

Sentiment:  You do a great job of being a great guy.

To make this card, pre-cut or trim all of the card layers.  Then stamp onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink.  Next, add light sketches from watercolor pencils along the outlines.  Then with a stiff wet paint brush, gently pull out the color from the outside inward, for each color section.  Dry between sections if you don't want them to run together.  Also, add more color as needed.  Finally, layer all of the pieces, to finish.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Watercolor koala card ~ Zig clean color pens + video.

Hello.  Today, I am sharing a sweet pun card scene with koala bears and watercolor accents.

Sentiment:  You're a koala-ty friend.

For this koala card, I wanted to make a little scene using the mother and baby bears along with some of the accents in the stamp set.  To make this scene, first, stamp the bears with ink for use with watercolor onto watercolor paper.  Then stamp the flowers and birds using repeat stamping, until you get the desired scene building.  Next, use watercolor of choice to add color to each of the scene elements.  I used Zig clean color real brush marker pens.  Also, to see how I used these brushes on my card, see the video below.  Finally, once dried, adhere the layers with either double-sided tape or foam tape.

Gate fold gold embossed floral card & video.

Hi there, it's Gaylynn.  For today, I am sharing a way to make a simple and pretty gate fold card.  This design would work for many occasions.

This gate fold panel can be used as a card with something on the inside, or as a card wrap to include an insert.  This one is made as a card.  It would work lovely as an invitation wrap as well.  I decided to use the colors of gold and light blue.  See below for details and a video tutorial.

Sentiment:  Love never fails.  1 Corinthians 13

Here are helpful tips for creating this.  To begin, pre-cut solid cardstock paper to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".   Next, using a scoring board, score each of the long ends at 2 1/4".  Trim and stamp an inside panel onto another piece of cardstock and set aside.  Then, stamp or heat emboss onto the backside of the solid scored gate fold panel.  Next, add ink blending accents around the flowers on the end flaps.  Next, adhere the inside stamped panel (optional) or place it loosely inside.  Finally, tie cording or ribbon around the card for closure to finish.  Once folded, this would fit into an A2 sized envelope.

Here is another look.

Supplies:  Unity Stamp Co. A Will, A Way and His Words; MSC scoring board, bone folder, cardstock, distress oxide ink in broken china, makeup blending brush, gold embossing powder, heat tool, EK powder tool, VersaMark ink, original misti, Tombow mono sand eraser, MCT more stitched rectangular dies, archival ink in cobalt, clear double-sided tape and May Arts metallic gold cording.

Have a fantastic day.

Heart Tag ~ Day 3 MCT 99th Edition Sneak Peeks

Hi, it's Gaylynn.  Here is Day 3 of the My Creative Time 99th Edition sneak peeks.

Sentiment:  Congrats and best wishes.

For this card, I began by adding distress oxide ink blending directly onto the card base.  Then, I stamped and die-cut the wreath and the scalloped heart tag.  I used two kits for this and I think it works perfectly together.  This could be used for a wedding, bridal shower, anniversary or love occasions.
