Gold Embossed Girl Watercolor Wine Tag
By Gaylynn Martling for Unity’s Watercolor Wednesday
(See also the video tutorial for this project.)
Trim or die-cut a wine tag panel with watercolor paper.  Add powder to the panel.  Heat emboss in gold.
Remove excess embossing powder using a narrow brush.  Heat set.
Watercolor the stamping.  Heat set between colors.  I used Altenew watercolor for this tag.
I use the stamp backing to mask prior to adding watercolor splatters.  Repositionable adhesive is best for masking.
Heat set and then embellish to finish.

It's your day.  Enjoy.

This clean and simple card was made using a lollipop stamp.  I decided to use only the pop top to make three rose buds.  To make the whimsical floral bouquet, I arranged them along with punched out leaves from double-sided paper.  Copic markers in three colors and sequins were also used.  It turned out better than I expected.

Watercolor Flower Jar Card + Mistake Correction

For Watercolor Wednesday, I am sharing a card with flower jar watercolor and with a way to correct a mistake.

Sentiment:  Do what makes you happy.

This was first heat embossed in black and then watercolor was added for color.  There was a section of the splatters that I wanted to correct.  So, I share an easy fix for mistake correction as well.

The full article and tutorial are up on the Unity blog.
I also made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Watercolor Flower Jar Card + Mistake Correction
By Gaylynn Martling for Unity’s Watercolor Wednesday
(See also the video tutorial for this project.)
Prior to embossing, add powder to watercolor paper.  This prevents stray embossing powder.
Sometimes, I also use a dry brush to remove excess embossing powder before heat setting.
On the embossed stamping, add watercolor layers.  I repeated all layers to add dimension, then I heat set.
The stamping was masked using the stamp backing and repositionable adhesive.  Splatters were added.
Finally, I corrected a stray splatter by adding more color and also by covering that small section with a die-cut butterfly.

Strawberries and flowers encouragement card with tulle.

This card is great for support or encouragement.  I wanted it to to be uplifting and to look bright and cheerful.

Sentiment:
Even when  you feel angry, tiered, sad, don't give up.
So many people love you.

This card was made by fussy cutting background stamping and making a top card frame from it.  The stamping was heat embossed.  Colored pencils were used along with a touch of Copic marker for the strawberries.  I added red tulle for the center.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Uplifting butterflies card with heat embossing and lace.

Here is an uplifting butterfly card for any occasion with an encouraging message.

Sentiment:  Strong, amazing, brave & beautiful, that's what you are.

These butterflies are part of one background stamp.  I heat embossed them in white onto mint color cardstock.  Embossing leaves a slight sheen to the stamping and has a bit of dimension with a raised surface.  It is much prettier in person.
The sentiment was added along with a strip of lace and adhesive gems.

Background Watercolor Card with Stamping
By Gaylynn Martling for Unity’s Watercolor Wednesday
(See also the video tutorial for this project.)
Begin by stamping the sentiment onto regular cardstock.  Then stamp the background lace onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink.
I inked the lace around the background perimeter.  Then I placed the watercolor paper on top of the stamp to pick up ink from the lace stamp.
Heat set or allow the background to dry.
I added water to the panel.  Then I added one color of Altenew watercolor.  I used several layers of that color and then heat set.
Once dry, I stamped the butterfly, using two ink colors and the Mini Misti tool.
Ranger archival ink pads used:  Sienna, Monarch Orange and Pale Ochre.
I layered everything onto the card base and embellished to finish.

Here is another look.

Supplies:  Unity Stamp Co. Gather Love and LaceMini Misti, Altenew watercolor half pans, Ranger watercolor paper, archival ink, My Creative Time dies, foam tape, heat tool and adhesive gems.
